Module 1: Introduction to Implant Therapy

Web-Based Program | Dr. Edward R. Schlissel

Program Description:

This program will introduce and discuss basic physiologic, anatomic and mechanical principles associated with implant dentistry. Implant components including implant macroscopic and microscopic features, surgical principles associated with implant placement, implant loading protocols and implant restorative components will be identified and illustrated. Timelines for implant restorations, along with procedures and protocols will be discussed; practical clinical guidelines will be given.

Module 2: Clinical Treatment: Single-Unit Anterior Restorations

Web-Based Program | Dr. Bruce Ouellette

Program Description:

This program will identify literature citations relative to the the long-term success/failure rates associated with tooth-supported crowns and fixed partial dentures. Benefits and limitations of implant-retained anterior restorations will be discussed and illustrated.  Screw- and cement-retained restorative designs will also be identified and discussed. Clinical techniques associated with fabrication of custom, implant-retained provisional crowns will be illustrated, along with fabrication of definitive abutments and crown restorations.

Module 3: Clinical Treatment: Implant-Supported Molar Replacement

Web-Based Program | Dr. Gary A. Morris

Program Description:

This program will describe the benefits and limitations associated with molar implant restorations. Clinical indications and contraindications will be illustrated including techniques for extraction and immediate implant placement with an unloaded healing protocol. Laboratory and clinical procedures will be illustrated that include implant-level impressions, fabrication of master casts, intraoral scanning, CAD/CAM abutment design parameters and cementation techniques.  A generic comparison between single-implant restorations and tooth-supported fixed partial dentures will be presented.

Module 4: Clinical Treatment: Posterior Partial Edentulism

Web-Based Program | Dr. Vahik Paul Meserkhani

Program Description:

This program will identify the benefits and limitations associated with tooth-supported fixed partial dentures and compare these long-term survival rates with the long-term survival rates of single-unit implant restorations. The benefits and limitations associated with screw- and cement-retained implant prostheses will be discussed. Guidelines for abutment selection will be extensively discussed and illustrated, including the biologic benefits of platform switching. Clinical cases will be presented throughout the program to illustrate the above principles and guidelines.

Module 5: Clinical Treatment: Edentulous Patients

Web-Based Program | Dr. James A. Rivers

Program Description:

This program will describe the benefits and limitations associated with conventional complete dentures, as well as, implant-retained or supported overdentures. Resilient attachment systems, framework design and bar-retained overdentures will be thoroughly discussed. The specific biologic benefits associated with implant overdenture treatment include denture retention and stability, bone preservation, improved soft-tissue health, improved nutrition and quality of life. Clinical examples and literature citations will be highlighted and discussed. The literature citations will include long-term clinical and patient satisfaction studies.

Module 6: Introduction to Digital Dentistry

Web-Based Program | Dr. Sompop Bencharit

Program Description:

This program will provide an introduction to digital technologies and their potential for enhancing dental implant treatment. The program will summarize the use of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in implant treatment planning and guided implant surgery. A simplified digital implant planning workflow and digital impression protocol will be discussed for fabrication of patient-specific custom implant abutments/restoration. The benefits of using an intraoral digital scanner for data capture will be reviewed, as well as, the benefits for patients and the practice.

Session 7: One-Day Hands-On Restorative

Zimmer Biomet Institute Course
